Don't you just love when a new, wonderful, creative soul happens by for a visit? Linda from Lime in the Coconut, a bright, beautiful Florida spot, happened by the other day opening my eyes to another world of lovely blogs. She is posting an open house tour...blogland style....hosted by Hooked on Houses. This is an idea that crossed my mind more than once.....and as I am a house peeping FANatic, I thought I'd join in.
Just in....click here for an easy way to visit home tours ALL OVER the blogosphere....
Come along while I take you on an open house tour of my friends Susan and Hal's wonderfully eclectic home.....
hand made stone walls against the brick and stucco....all Hal's creations.....
Susan had me show her how to do tile mosaic and promptly set off to create many beautiful garden works......
inside is filled with marvelous flea market finds....
little vignettes
and artwork in every nook and corner.
This bedroom boasts an old metal chest of drawers that she took to a local automotive paint shop.....I helped her pick through HUNDREDS of colors.....why is it cars on the road are blue, white, red, black and brown...because, I'm telling you...there is every color under the sun available.
she choose turquoise, brown and butter yellow.....
Susan designed these ingenious window coverings in her home.....they can be configured in a multitude of different ways....
they each have their favorites.
a quiet reading corner......
with outsider art looking on.....
Upstairs in the bedroom loft....a view of the red painted wall that was salvaged from the original structure....
skylights to watch the stars and light the leaded glass....
a perfect spot to sit and gaze out over the garden.
How about a tour of Ellen's home before you head out...
Now, click here and go on to visit the rest of the open house tour!
I hope you've enjoyed the tour....I am definitely going to do more of these as I have LOTS of fantastically creative friends that I'd love to introduce you to.

Thank you for the opening the doors to Susan and Hals beautiful home. The best thing is that it is their own creative, colorful & unique expression! The ingenious window treatments, the bench in the fireplace and the amazing flee market horse hung on the wall are things I will not forget! Thanks Steph and thank you Susan and Hal. Thumbs UP!

I do believe I am a bit of a voyeur, but purely in a good way. I love to drive by homes and see in windows - spotting a gem piece of furniture or certain decor. I think we all do that. I love that you've showcased your friends remarkable home this way....I didn't feel near as strange peeking in and I didn't have to leave home. ha!
I love SO many elements - the mosaic with the blue bottles really got my attention.
CAn't wait to see more.
Stay cool now!
XOXO

Oh, this is GORGEOUS! I love all the color - your photos capture it all so well. Thank you for the tour - I love to looky-loo. 0_0 Just this weekend I helped a friend start moving, and I had to take a moment here and there to just looky-loo at the new space. Wish I could take such lovely photos as you - mine don't do her space justice - but I may end up sharing them anyway, inspired by you and those fun links.

oooooooo
love the Howard Finster angel
I spent a day with him...
you know when I was a grad at O.U.
back in 85
in his Paradise Garden
Howard spoke in tongues - angels speaking
to me at least
back then...
