Julie and JeriAnn are hosting a virtual photo excursion. Getting Arboreal: A Nature Collection, will document a single trees journey from Summer to Fall/Winter to Spring.
This is the Ornamental Pear tree that sits outside the Mango Studio.
We planted it about 6 years ago to replace the old apple tree that was original to the apple orchard that stood here before the neighborhood was built.
A huge show storm 2 years ago split the trunk and we thought we lost the tree...we were advised to take it down.
we decided against that recommendation...
This is ONE of the treats of being out in the Mango Studio, to watch the progression of the seasons as it marches through the garden and trees.

Awesome, Stephanie! I am looking forward to more pictures of your tree! (I don't think I would have taken it down either.)

As the girl who used to make her daddy ride around after tropical storms and hurricanes to put trees back up that had blown over (no easy feat for him-we lived in Miami!), I thank you for NOT chopping down the tree, which, truly is the stuff that dreams are made of. TREES. I hug em every day.
I'll be watching with much affection :-)

I just read about this when I saw Janet's tree. It sounds like such a good idea. Your pear tree is lovely - so glad you've been able to save it. I love trees. Looking forward to watching yours through the seasons, Steph~xo

i love ornamental pear trees! i'm glad you didn't take it down. we had a tree split once, and my husband tarred and put a screw in it. i ignorantly scoffed at that...10 yrs. later it is the most magnificent tree ever! can't wait to see this in the fall!

We lost our ornamental pear to fire blight. Great tree, one of my favorites. I need to plant another one! Thanks for sharing your photos.

Wonderful idea! Oh yay, the tree made it. You see, that is what I always say, a recommendation isn't the end all be all of what is to come, and I can tell you agree ;). Sometimes, you have to just let life happen just like you did, and see, there is your tree in full glory...
I can't wait to see the changing seasons at the Mangolicious studio!!!

Oh I am so glad you Saved the tree! We just had to take a 40 foot palm down...it was leaning and swaying and full of stress cracks... and threatening our houses existence. I'm still sad.

What a great virtual tree project, since we live everywhere in the world. Trees mean so much that add EVERYTHING. They are the backdrop to beauty. I have cried to see a tree cut down. I love them. Your ornamental pear is a beautiful tree. One of my mother's favorites. It also has pretty blossoms in the spring. So glad your majestic lady lives on! bringing you inspiration and beauty. May she live on and on!!

Love that pear tree. Despite predictions of doom and gloom it seems to be happy where it is and blooming and giving off some wonderful energy right there next to the studio. :)Bea

Don't you LOVE the green fruit? Our lemons are replete with green bulbettes and they are so YUMMY to see! And then they go yellow and then they have all that Meyerness in them and then they flower and they are SO cute and full and just short enough for our yard, and...
But I'm far too busy to take photos.
