I was part of the 2011 Sketchbook Project and traveled to Seattle to meet SomePinkFlowers to see it...
and Ms Lady Bug Circus...who gratiously shared many of the favorite spots in her city with us.
The project is incredibly organized...one line to get your library card, once you have a card you can step into the line to check out sketchbooks, we had some books that we wanted to check out...
like Frans beautiful book...how cool is this!
and this woman looking at MY sketchbook...
the runners are kept busy pulling books from the stacks. Once your library card is scanned an email is sent to the sketchbook owner sharing that your book has been checked out.
we lounged in chairs perusing over all the books....Ms Oceandreamers was a treat...
as was Jenny's fabulous sketchbook, we can see first hand how her mind works and lays out ideas for her next tin piece.
the intricate layers of grids and lines that is the sketchbook of Ms Parobolic Muse...yes! we held them ALL in our hands!
Such JOY to see so many...young and old alike pouring over the thousands of books.

Stephanie - THANKS for posting the pictures of the Sketchbook Project! So cool to see. I created one, too. So amazing to see them all lined up on shelves. And runners to capture the one you want. VERY interesting. Renee

It actually brings tears to my eyes to see another person looking through your book, Steph. What a cool project and such a clever idea with the library cards to keep tabs of who has looked at your book, and so they wont go missing.
Thank you for sharing the joy!

THANK you for visiting my Etegami blog! You can't imagine how much it means to me to learn that someone actually discovered my sketchbook among the ocean of sketchbooks! And I'm so glad to "meet" you. : )

How fantastic is this! Books, people's pneuma on shelves, being discovered and perused and loved by others whom they may have never met. What a wonderful world where such projects exist so that they are so accessible to everyone. What a lovely time you had! Thank you for sharing something I never would have known about otherwise.
xoxo,

Okay, can we talk?...PLEASE?
I'm so honored I fell over. This makes me so happy my smile muscles are sore.
Look at those people looking at stuff! It truly is love at first sight, isn't it? I'm happy you got to visit and SEE. It's worth a million Capital Letters and exclamation points!
Thank you thank you for letting me know my baby is safe, and also for awakening me to the fact that you held it in your hands just like a real-life book!

delicious! i love the sense of community, that is widened as the collection travels, as the journals are checked out, as the creators receive emails of the hands and eyes that grace their pages. love this and the company you keep!!

What a buzz I'm feeling here, how exciting is this, you and 'somepinkflowers' a wonderful way of sharing your passion. I have never heard of anything going on in the UK like this, but then I spend most of my time talking to you ladies over the other side of the water! I will have to investigate!

Stephanie -- The Sketchbook Project came through Atlanta in April, and I specifically made a point to go by and see your sketchbook. It was beautiful! I have been following your blog for over a year, and it was great to actually see some of your work in person.
