Just a taste of Oaxaca...so much to pour through still, sorting through many images and gathering my thoughts
I knew I would see so much incredible folkart, again, just a taste...Magdalena Martinez who shows at the Santa Fe Folkart Market and Saul, a Zapotec artist who travels 5 hours from his mountain home to sell in Oaxaca a few times a year.
The amount of contemporary art really knocked my socks off. These pieces from the exhibit at CASA, a old textile mill restored by the Oaxaca artist Francisco Toledo. Toledo a prolific artist in his own right has spearheaded this among other projects to bring resources to local Oaxacan artists.
The courtyard at the Textile Museum, decorated for Dia de los Muertos...an incredible space, fantastic exhibits and beautiful gift shop
art and color on the street and in every nook and cranny.
