Sending thoughts of love and peace off on each colorful wing.

I have to give myself extra doses of sweet to take my mind off of all of this...

Tess and her friends played in a soccer tournament this weekend, they have played together since 2nd grade...but it's been a while since anyone has played lately.

they were the old ladies :) and it was HOT!

Celebrate Spring

This Passover week brings thoughts of the meaning of this holiday, inclusive of all people, the universal story of oppressed people yearning for freedom...the current struggles in the middle East, China, Darfor, the Ivory Coast.

I bought a copy of Our Haggadah and enjoy the connections within to all people and all traditions.

Happy Passover, Easter or whatever rites of Spring you celebrate...

Food for Thought

Another January journal page, Tess's hands...these are photographs that I sand, scrape, paint and draw on. 

I have also been exploring the concept of baraka.  I cannot find much written about this practice but have found this one book that talks of it.  Baraka is the act of writing and this act in itself produces the energy and essence of God's blessings (Goddess, the higher power) which can be directed to particular needs. 

The more I dig into these concepts the more I see how very interconnected our world is, even apparently disparate beliefs all share so many similar base symbols, icons, ideas and mystical knowledge.

I offer Peace on Earth....in joining Roo and the many others that are making a concerted effort on this day, International Day of Peace, to take a moment to sit in a peaceful state, speak, write, make art of Peace.

'Peacebuilding isn't "peacemaking" or "peacekeeping". Peace Day marks personal and planetary progress toward peace.'

Here's one idea from Global Mala;

'The purpose of the Global Mala Yoga for Peace Project is to unite the global yoga community from every continent, school or approach to form a "mala around the earth" through collective practices, based upon the sacred cycle of 108, on Sept. 21st, as the yoga world's offering to further the UN International Peace Day.' 

I will ask if my yoga class if they are interested in participating in this...108 sun salutations...hmmmm, maybe we can split it up, about 15 each for the 7 class members.
