The Rodrigvitz's spent the day and night in the Big D. We do this during the Christmas season to partake in the big city lights and fun.
We started the day at the Museum of Nature and Science in City Park. The park is always beautiful, but especially so with the fresh snow and lots of folks sledding and enjoying the day.
The Titanic was at the Museum, we saw the IMAX movie as well as the exhibit. The movie, we all agreed, was the best of this experience. By the time we left the sun was setting and reflected in the atrium windows of the building.
We got a great deal on a new boutique hotel, The Curtis, all funky, fun, orange, brown and green...right in the heart of things downtown.
Fun photos ops....Tess reflected in the mirror at dinner...
a short walk to catch the free bus that runs up and down the 16th street mall.... taking us to the theatah...
The Paramount Theater that is, beautiful old art nouveau architecture, to see the Nutcracker...
a brisk walk back to the hotel after having a glass or two of wine at this very cool Spanish Tapas restaurant, the 9th Door....it was cold! Denver is not a city to be homeless in....and sadly we saw a few.
We awoke to snow...lots of blowing snow...and we drove to Mr R.'s doctor's office where he was given a clean bill of health and the go ahead to 'get back to normal activity'....lose the cane....
(Greg taking a picture of me taking a picture of him and Tess....laughing, jiggling the camera)
wooo hoooo! A slow drive back home on slippery roadways with lovely images (of sugar plum fairies dancing) in our heads.
Oh Steph - what a wonderful visit to the big D - we used to go as kids to see the circus - I remember well the long drive back to Lodgepole...
what beautiful pictures - and oh so happy to hear that Mr. R. can ditch the cane - hooray!

Oh wow...leave it to YOU and the family to find the COOL hotel. The photos really capture the winter light of Denver. You really MUST consider a travel book...text, photos and graphics.
Stay Warm, my Darling Fellow Front Range Pal!

A great collection of pics -- it really gives a sense of your trip....
My favorites are the side of the museum and the last jiggly one. :-) I have to keep reminding myself that the not-sharp/clear pics are often fun and interesting....
Great news that Sr. R. is healing so well!

I DO LOVE Denver!!! Growing up in Cheyenne, we of course, spent a lot of time in the Big D. I tried to talk the hubby into moving there years ago, but he was not interested. You see, he grew up there and is not a big fan of the city. :-(
Thanks for sharing! I loved seeing it all!
Happy New Year to you and your family!!!!
Hugs!!

Sounds like such a FUN night out! Your photographs are always such a treat - they are so colourful, so vivid - and now I get to have a walk with you through Denver. It's so interesting to see what your city looks like. It seems that everyone I've met who has lived in or visited Colorado loves it there. My husband and his best friend drove and hiked through Colorado on a roadtrip years back and said that it was a beautiful state and that the everyone they met were laid back and friendly.
Glad to hear that your husband is doing well and can toss the cane. Mind you, maybe he can use it in a New Year's dance number? I suggest Puttin' on the Ritz or You Can Keep Your Hat On - hee! Do you have a top hat somewhere in your house? ;p
