I have the pleasure of participating in a neighborhood garden....coming together with friends to grow and harvest a bountiful meal....knowing where every bit comes from, having a hand in much of it. Salad greens, green peppers, broccoli, jalapenos for the casserole and herbs....all from our garden. Peaches from Palisades via the farmers market.
The broccoli growing huge...so tender, like nothing you eat from a grocery store...
all the plants growing so big and happy...
under our loving care.....
We gathered in beautiful evening light to savor a meal from the garden.
Our book group met just last week after reading Barbara Kingsolvers, 'Animal, Vegetable, Miracle' and had another fresh feast....including homemade fresh mozzerella cheese!
There was plenty to feast on tonight and some to take home as well....
everyone feeling fat and happy....
Now if only we had enough grapes to make our own wine....maybe next year.
Are you enjoying a bountiful season of fresh food?
What beautiful greens! It all looks so fresh and healthy. xoxox

Hi Stephanie, oh yes and yes some more. We have been dining on veggies from the garden and today we are having wraps with lots of veggies. The lady who is holding the broccoli is a beautiful woman. Please let her know I said that. She has this look of peace that makes you warm up to her. You have some terrific friends Stephanie. I will have a glass of wine please. Very nice post, thank you.

nothing compares to food grown and harvested by people coming together with a common goal and love in their hearts.

I'm enjoying a lot of fresh food this summer, and getting ready to 'put up' some corn, as my grandmother used to say.
I'm afraid the only things I'm growing myself are tomatoes and basil, but there is a bountiful selection of fruits and vegetables grown locally available.
How fun that you participate in this shared garden and then get to enjoy the fruits of your work with the others.

What a fun way to clebrate friendship and one's garden! That broccoli bouquet left me smiling! And those huge peppers...wow...my vegetable garden is still on its baby stage...but I can't wait until I can visit it regularly.

Yum! Looks like the perfect summer backyard get-together. I enjoyed reading that book. Are you trying out some of the Kingsolver's recipes?

I really enjoyed that book. Haven't tried making mozzerella yet, but I have tried a few other fresh cheeses. Lots of fun!
