I hung a show of Day of the Dead work at the JavaStop this weekend....gathering work from family and friends...
I grabbed this off my living room wall....a drawing Tess did as a child, fit right into the show.
The loteria series hanging here....
as well as a tiny Catrina piece....
I have a couple of prints from my brother
also available as t-shirts as well....
the coffee shop is a small intimate space, here is one of Linda's painting...
and these tiny, perfect sugar skull's by Michael Amaya.
Across the street at the Bead Lounge you can find another Dia de los Muertos show...
as well as many other varied offerings.
I hope you're thinking about your Dia de Bloglandia post coming right up on Nov 1st as well as your shrine for the Children of Oaxaca Auction. Please note that the Nov 1st date is only to display your shrines on Rebecca's site but the actual auction will take place sometime in March...stay tuned for the exact date.
Hi Stephanie,
Your show and the work looks fantasic!
I wish people in the east in braced this wonderful celebration.
I just posted my shrine for Rebecca's auction. I will be posting my students pieces all this week. Thanks for making us aware of this wonderful benefit.

Ooooo!!!
Okay, here is the deal.
next year, you come here for Dia de los Muertos??? What do you say????
Even if I sell my other house (whish I am considering for sanity purposes), you can cuddle up in the country shack and we can do lots of Day of the Dead things??? Maybe?
It would be fun!
xoxo

Wish I could attend even one of these shows you are always posting. So much color in your life.
Would have loved to go to the Rubin with you as well.....how about those reds......and greens.....and blues.
I love that you noticed the light coming from behind the flag....it's so like you to notice the magic.

Oh Stephanie..these are all magnificent! I just wrapped up my assemblage for the event and I can't wait to photograph it... There is a little corner in my studio that is growing dia de los muertos art and I am so happy that I can participate in your event!
If you make it to Vanessa's, you have to continue west to San Diego. I insist!

Oh man, you live in a terrific community of artists and coffee shop patrons, Stephanie. I soooo wish I could go there in person. Your artwork is, as usual, vivid and gorgeous. And I can't believe Tess drew that skeleton as a child?! Wow! Those sugar skulls are so pretty, too. And that necklace...well, I'm wishing I thought of doing THAT!!! Your brother's t-shirts are really good, too. Man, your whole family is talented.
