One definition of the devil's in the detail..."to refer to very small but ultimately important component of a larger task".
I have felt at a loss without the ability to focus my camera's eye on these details....
because the big picture is quite different...
Happily playing with my new/old camera
ahhh nothing sweeter than an old familiar friend.
welcome back sighs your camera, so pleased to have your warm hands, inspired eye, and endless possibilities for all the wild beauty seeking adventures you will take it on.

Wonderful joy showing thru here !
I did that too, went on Ebay to find my old tool
when it gave up it's ghost.
Alas....it was not compatible then with new computers and eventually....got a handy cam , never to be quite the same.

very pretty! again having camera envy as mine is off to be cleaned and fixed. I am hoping that it so bad that they just replace it. I think it is the only digital that has a lens cap rather then an automatic lens cap. Anyway; missing being able to take the after the storm shots.

Hi Steph,
I'm really liking those abstract pieces. Are those also the photos that you've drawn over. I like that direction alot!

I didn't realize (or had forgotten) that we are sister Panasonic afficianadas!
My first camera looks just like yours only an older model, I bet. My "little" camera (the one that goes with me everywhere) is smaller, but still has 6x optical.
I have a DMC FZ8, too, but don't know how to get it to do closeups, or, really anything other than what it just wants to do on its own. (it's the only one of the three right here, so is the only one whose number I know!)
I miss being able to focus by messing with the lens itself. SOemtimes I can just do a better job than the autofocus and that is all. My first digital camera had some of that capability (but only some, why?), but the two newer do not. The newest has a joystick which supposedly does manual focus, but which has never given me any joy at all................
Anyway, congrats on getting what you need to get the job done, and I'm sure your advice that I should get a new/old one of my little take-everywhere is exactly correct!
