I've been gone...now I'm home, thought I'd post this from the road but that just didn't happen.
treasures that Olive found....
oh Olive, leave it...can be heard any time of the day and night
this time though it was not off to the trash with the fresh find....this time a soaked wasps nest and pure white feathers...
tinged with brown....left us from a Hawk visit
a vision of color and texture...one of those Magellanic wonders...now settling into the Mango Studio
yipeee!
stephanie
these wee bits are the best...
:-)
the texture
the color
just everything
i am like this
with teeny bits of shells.
everyone else is
all over the Perfect Ones
when beach*walking
and
i am ga-ga
over a broken, pinky shell part
which
is just the most magnificent
in shape and hue ♥♥♥

""oh lookie here"" }}

Ooh, Olive went treasure hunting! She did well, too! I have an old wasp nest stored away. Sometimes I bring it out and display it in a vase like flowers. It's interesting how the wasps can make a home so sturdy yet it feels like handmade paper...

very pretty. and olive a mixed media artist - who knew? It does look like she has found one of the scatterlings. Poor thing.

I love those wasp nests!
I saw something one time where a person had offered them damp colored paper to work with, and the wasps' nest was stripes of hot pink and chartreuse...........
We've had big wasp nests a couple of times, and I have been waiting, ever since I saw that pink and green nest, to offer wasps bright colors, but we haven't had a nest since I saw it...........

My sister's pug is a vacuum and everything is fair game so she ends up eating those tiny seed beads when she is here on occassion! I took down the paper wasp nest we had last year and put it in a box. I have since lost the box and I wonder if someday we will find it in the garage. :( My husband may have thrown it out or hey he could have recycled it. :)

Olive is a treasure hunter supreme. Good girl Olive!!!
We have a completely intact wasps nest in our Adirondack/South West room.
Your somehow seems to have more character.
I know an artist that uses wasps nests to make bowls...he makes the rims out of leather that he lashes on with leather strips.

Okay, WOW. I have NEVER seen anything like this, even in my childhood wasp close encounters. Thanks for sharing this. We are always telling little Scout to 'drop it!' Doggies must use their mouths for everything! Well, almost...

Ohhh, I love stuff like this! I have a wasps nest hanging in my powder room. I used to have several glass wasps that I bought in Venice sitting on the nest. They were so real-looking that the woman who cleaned for me thought they were real and whacked them with a broom!
