Todos Santos was given the designation of Pueblo Magico...magical village in 2006. 32 towns and villages in Mexico have been given this designation as a way to preserve and promote towns that hold significant historical, symbolism, legends and magical experiences.
It has changed since we last visited nearly 8 years ago....the state of the economy has effected the local artists who had galleries in many of the buildings in the centro.
some have survived...many spaces are empty...many spaces have been filled with your typical Mexican tourist shops with goods made mostly in China.
The Todos Santos Inn and Cafe is a favorite morning spot...
for even the tiniest visitor.
Dirt roads lead you from one colorful building...
The one road from Cabo to Todos Santos is being widened which on the one hand will provide much safer travel for the local population but will bring many more tourists the town. My hope is that with the Pueblo Magico designation the additional visitors to Todos Santos will help the economy and help move the artists back into the galleries.
Remember to visit the Shrine Auction for the benefit of the Children of Oaxaca. Bidding goes until 6:00 p.m. PST Saturday, April 24th.

i love how you set this post up with the splotch of red that moves around grows large then smaller in proportion.
my daughter taught summer school in Guadalajara a few summers in a row; she brought home amazing photos such as these. Wept when she had to leave.

Stephanie - I just got back from Oaxaca City and surrounding pueblos. Todo Santos looks very alluring. Pueblo Magico - I like that. Will send you some pics of Oaxaca. Toni
