I have been engrossed in the Science of Yoga by William J. Broad. He explains the science behind yoga, from a historical perspective to modern yoga...the benefits as well as the risks. I was thrilled to read there is real science behind the claim that yoga can actually build bone mass to combat osteoporosis and osteopenia.
For the most part I have been lucky to have teachers that understand the risks, the necessity to protect the cervical spine with layers of blankets for support in postures like shoulder stand and plow. Today though in class that wasn't the case...I'll start bringing my own blanket, to take steps to protect myself.
Off again with stacks of books for the long plane ride, I really need to join the Kindle age or look for yoga poses that help with aches and pains of carry lots of books.
tell me when you finish the book is it understandable? so much written on yoga assumes you know all about it! and where are you off to this week?

Thanks for that, I will double up on the mat this morning at my yoga class. Happy reading. x
BTW I'm thinking of adding a yoga section on my blog, this type of info is very useful!

come to the dark side, Join the KINDLE age, you will love it. Promise. I was resistant at first as well. I still buy Books like art books and spiritual books (cause I like to write in those) but most others are digital.
Sounds like a great book about Yoga!

Ooo...I've had this book on my reading list, but haven't gotten round to it yet. LOVE Kindle now. I still love print-books, but I'm learning to love the flexibility of Kindle and e-books. Be brave! :o) ((HUGS))

Oh Stephanie, you have been so busy, and I have been gone so long. I have just been catching up and just like always I love seeing your colorful projects and your photographs.
I have been so busy too, with workshops mostly, but I have been painting in between and it has all been lovely. Take care,
roxanne
