I've begun making my Dia de los Muertos altar for this years celebration at the museum. I'm thinking of the Monarchs and the mythology of the migration to Mexico...I'm thinking of the Navajo Storyteller tradition and I've been listening to John O'Donahue, an Irish poet and philosopher that is sparking ideas of a visual narrative of my ancestors.
My process is slow, stitch by stitch...
a series of small dolls that represent family members, milagros and monarch wings
a visual narrative that embraces the presences in my life...of those no longer with me
what a great idea. wish you could see all the butterflies that visit us daily ! several varieties . there were monarchs earlier but not now maybe too hot for them! or too much heavy rain !

There was a hitch in my breathing as I read this. What a beautidul way to bring our departed loved ones back to life.

Beautiful concept, just love the small embellishments on the dolls.

I like visiting here and following you on IG! This is a great background to what I saw there. Really poignant and lovely. I am going to check out that poet.
