some images from our garden a couple of months ago
it was full and vital
and we enjoyed many beautiful garden dinners
one of the last large garden harvests...although those cherry tomatoes keep coming and coming
picking for gazpacho and one last garden dinner of the season
Sue peeking out from the hollyhock earlier in the season and a garden poem of hers to share:
Moonlight Garden
Come out with me in the moonlight tonight
when everyone else if fast asleep.
We will go the garden beds!
The rainbow carrots wiggle free
To dance amongst the marigolds.
See the purple pumpkins the size of a car?
We could climb inside and tell secrets for hours.
The beefsteak and the early girls,
The heirloom and the red zebras,
Are bowling with the sungold cherries
down the aisles between the stalks.
The beans are in a fierce battle: the climbing French and the Kentucky Wonderbush
against the Empress and the Dragon's Tongue, swords swishing, this way, now that.
The eggplants, the jolly striped logos, the shy thai green, the haunting caspers,
listen intently as the Swiss chard and the red Russian kale tell tales of old.
Come out with me in the moonlight tonight.
We will go to the garden beds!
The harvest festival is soon to begin!
Oh such a luscious beautiful garden!!!! Love the hollyhocks, they are hard to grow here in Florida and I miss them!
