a natural progression...the years of Monarch myth and lore
the importance of the milkweed to the caterpillar
grateful for the inspiration to push in this direction

Love following this connection with the Monarch...

Your painted pod looks just like a monarch caterpillar. I have milkweed and in spring many, many caterpillars. The wasps like to build nests nearby (easy food supply) so I am constantly knocking them down to save the caterpillars. It's ok. I'm wierd! :)

So lovely Steph on so many levels! When my milkweeds bloom and scatter and the caterpillars munch... I think of how we love these incredible creatures who carry such love across time and space...

each year i gather these pods just before they are ready to burst open and unfurl there winged seeds. every spring i nurture these seeds in tiny pots until they are ready to be shared. to increase the swaths of milkweed around us pleases me beyond measure. to see these same pods of promise lift your heart and inspire your artistic narrative feeds my soul!
