I just twist and turn, then my partner in crime sets them all on the train tracks...to squish them

we will be spreading this love next month

she is being born...slowing taking on the personality of Mnemosyne...the Greek Goddess of the personification of memory

she took the body of the mother Goddess from last year's Dia de los Muertos altar from last year

she gained limbs that allow her to cradle the memories...

the gathering of the 'presences'

 

she is growing, gathering the spirits...summoning the Monarchs

Sorry to see the Week End

We packed a lot in this long holiday weekend...the opening of the Viva la Vida exhibit at CHAC, we started with dinner at the Interstate Cafe, visited a few other galleries on Santa Fe and enjoyed a beautiful evening

Show is up through the end of the month, lots of great work to catch on Santa Fe

took my mom out on the lake kayaking,

yeah, she had a great time

Tess and Pete were in town for a wedding, happy to spend time with them

 

the best fireworks...evah!

and the women win the World Cup...woo hoo!!!

hard to beat this one!

 

 

Art at Still Cellars

What a wonderful venue, such ambiance and lovely warmth...our popup exhibit at the Still Cellars, boutique distillery and art house.

Our opening was a fun and successful event, the exhibit will be up through the end of July...

I was fortunate to be part of a wonderful exhibit at the Space Gallery on Santa Fe in Denver for the Art Students League...Soul Struck/the Art of Soul

the opening was a GALA event...I borrowed a gorgeous dress, had a custom made necklace and pretty much rocked the concrete carpet

Patti Burton joined us...it was she that created the stunning Monarch necklace...a collaboration of my paper pieces and her metal smithing expertise

we are thinking of a collaborative line of jewelry...

 

Las Monarcas and Gabriel Garcia Marquez

A year in the making, this symposium in the Morgan Library on the CSU campus...my Monarch works displayed on the 1 year anniversary of the death of Gabriel Garcia Marquez

a perfect layering of the milkweed and cornstalk field...the Monarchs

that become a trail of yellow butterflies leading one from the exhibit...down the long walkway...and finally around the corner to the symposium's event room

the gallery displaying the goddess dresses and information about the life and work of Garcia Marquez

a thread running through, connecting stories, life and death and one to another

the completed piece will be at the CSU Morgan Library for the Solitude and Exhuberance symposium on the 1 year anniversary of the death of Garbrial Garcia Marquez

wrapped up our holiday sale at katy's...was a great success, for those that could not make it please enjoy a little tour of the weekend
