Morning dawned clear blue and glistening white...for those that won't experience a white Christmas...I give you the gift of snow.

Olive and Melly discussed it....

 

and said yes...let's share this winter white

and for Jennifer who started a guerrilla art action...spreading holiday cheer, this is for you.  The other day I saw a dozen or so people converged on this one little tree...decorating it top to bottom.

 
it stands out like a jewel against the blue and white.

A Week of Sundays

I've taken this past week off...and each day felt like Sunday.  Long and slow, some art, maj, reading....

bike rides with lots of stops to gaze at the surroundings.

 

riding a path that climbs up this outcropping and affords a view...

of the whole plain....

Now it really is Sunday and I'm looking forward to a busy week...2 shows to hang and then off on a little trip.

Getting Comfortable...slowly

Learning Curve

A few days ago my camera died...my trusty, tried and true... old friend.  It felt perfect in my hand, it was always there, so comfortable.

As luck would have it Mr R had just purchased the newest model, beautiful camera I'm sure...but, not mine, so many changes.

It's a learning curve....

I snapped this photo of a new dancing chicken piece...in progress; this was last image before the never ending error messages began. (sob sob)

I have read and re-read the user's guide, I'm just not getting it.  There are function dials just where my fingers want to hold the camera and I'm not sure what happens when I accidentally push them.

I will continue to play, to try different settings....to enjoy the last day of our beautiful weather.

Playing with new Toys

It's not like I have loads of extra time....I don't, but, when I find a new toy...

 

well you know, it's hard not to play with it.

I did put this new found obsession to good use HERE.

I don't believe I thanked everyone who joined us in Dia de Bloglandia this year....I do indeed thank you and will pass along updated information about the shrine auction when I have it.

Getting Arboreal, Act II

Act II finds my tree struggling, we experienced unusually early freezing weather and snow and were robbed of most of our fall color. 

in August...green from our cool, wet summer.

 

then in October we were hit with freezing cold and snow and a particularly heavy snow snapped MORE limbs.

 

she was recovering from the loss of a huge limb last year...

 

as the sun sinks in the west we enjoy the leaves on the remaining branches as they turn orange and red and wonder if she will still be with us in the spring for Getting Arboreal, Act III.

The Maples seem to have weathered our early cold...the red glow from this beauty welcomes me every morning....life is good...

It's Where I LIVE

Warm today because the WIND was crazy...bike riding, and photo shooting on the move, was a challenge.  Pretty none the less....

I'm away for a few days...

posting these pics to remind me of home. 

oh yeah...Indian Summer

by definition, a period of warm autumn after the first freeze

and after our cold and snow...gathering what's left, and there is a lot of beauty left after all

 

root bound pots providing foundations for yard mandalas...

 

putting the neighborhood garden to bed for the winter and bringing home herbs that not only survived the cold...

 

but thrived.

May you thrive as well....
